I have worked in the voluntary sector for more than 20 years in a whole
variety of roles including as a volunteer, committee member, in development
roles, undertaking research, as a fundraiser, activities worker, counsellor,
telephone help line worker, managing projects and people and as a trainer and
consultant. I have worked in collectives, user-led groups and groups with a Director and Management Committee. I have a particular interest in user-led organisations. Over the last 7 years I have concentrated on developing and delivering many specially designed resources developed with voluntary sector groups in mind. These include things such as the fundraising health-check, business-planning resources and the accredited course for fundraisers which is one of the very few of its kind in the whole of the U.K. Currently I am working on the development and production of a series of about 12 workbooks that will enable groups to undertake a detailed process towards the development of for example a Business Plan, Fundraising Strategy or Annual Report. I have written many courses on different issues and subjects as well as delivering packages of consultancy to more than 250 groups. This has enabled the groups to do everything from developing a package for professionals to use when involving users, to development of business plans, fundraising proposals, polices, presentation materials, various reports and much more.
